IOI - Initiative for Open Innovation

Welcome to IOI - The Initiative for Open Innovation

What is IOI?

Patent Lens IOI Inernational Advisory Council Cambia - Enabling Innovation

The Initiative for Open Innovation is a new initiative, initially funded through grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Lemelson Foundation. IOI has international support and builds on Cambia’s Patent Lens project and particularly with their work on Patent Landscapes.

Who's involved?

IOI is an initiative of Cambia, an autonomous, international, non profit organisation. It has received support not only from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Lemelson Foundation but also from diverse and widespread international experts who are offering advice and direction as part of an International Advisory Council.

Yeah but what's this really all about?

Put simply, IOI is about removing the constraints that intellectual property laws are placing on science and technology enabled innovation. We want to enable a better understanding of the intellectual property landscapes that surround innovation. We want to make it easier for people to use scientific innovation to serve the public good.
